As the pumpkin has a high glycemic index, it should be consumed in small amounts only. 4. Flaxseed

Flaxseed is a fibre rich food item, it has a high content of soluble fibre. It is observed that eating flaxseed after having the meal, increase insulin level, and hence control diabetes. Flaxseed is rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an essential fatty acid that appears to be beneficial in preventing heart disease and related illnesses. Flaxseed is also rich in carbohydrates, studies showed a beneficial effect for diabetics.

Some food items are beneficial for diabetes, should be included in the diet, and some foods may increase sugar level and worsen the problem should be avoided.
